Exploration Block Under NELP-III

KG-OSN-2001/3 (KG Offshore) - Area: 1890 sq. km. (GSPC - 80% PI)
GSPC in association with Jubilant Enpro and GeoGlobal Resources (GGR), Canada was awarded the contract for exploration of KG-OSN-2001/3 block under the Government of India's NELP-III offer during February' 2003 with GSPC as operator.

The KG Block is located within Krishna Godavari basin, off the east coast of India. There are 3 phases to the Production Sharing Contract. Under the first phase, GSPC and its joint venture partners are required to acquire 1250 sq. km. of 3D seismic data and drill 14 exploratory wells to a depth ranging between 900 and 4118 meters over a period of 30 months. The estimated cost of project in-place is 140-150 million US$. Under the remaining two phases, an additional 6 exploration wells are to be drilled. The exploration period on this KG Block extends for a term of 84 months.

The consortium has completed the marine 3D Seismic API of 1298 sq. km. and drilling targets have been mapped and identified. Saipem's Perro Negro 3 jack-up drilling rig  contracted for the exploratory drilling program has commenced operations since July' 2004. So far, 3 wells have already been drilled in the block. The third well, which has encountered several hydrocarbons bearing zones has resulted in to huge discovery of gas. At present drilling of the 4th well and 3D API is in progress in this block.

The Krishna Godavari basin, which witnessed one of the largest gas discoveries in 2002 by another operator, is a highly prospective region for exploration. As per preliminary assessment based on 3D Seismic API, our KG block has a potential of over 20 TCF of in place gas reserves.

Exploration Blocks Under NELP-IV

CB-ONN-2002/3 (Sanand-Miroli) - Area : 285 sq. km. (GSPC - 55% PI)
GSPC in association with Jubilant Enpro Private Limited (JEPL), New Delhi Prize Petroleum Company Limited (PPCL) [Location] and GeoGlobal Resources (Barbados) Inc. was awarded the contract for exploration of CB-ONN-2002/3 block under the Government of India's NELP-IV offer during February' 2004, with GSPC as the operator.

The block falls in western India in proven petroliferous Cambay basin, which is producing over 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOEPD), in the State of Gujarat and surrounded by various oil producing fields like Sanand, Nawagam and Wasna. Three of the five existing wells drilled earlier within the block had tested oil.

There are 3 phases to the Production Sharing Contract on Ahmedabad Block. As a part of our Phase- 1 exploration program, GSPC and its JV partners are required to carry out 200 sq. km. of 3D Seismic API and drilling of 12 wells between 1500 and 3000 m within a period of 30 months. Acquisition of 3D seismic is currently under progress and it is planned to start drilling by March 2006.

CB-ONN-2002/2 (Mehsana) - Area : 125 sq. km. (GSPC - 60% PI)
GSPC in association with Jubilant Enpro Private Limited (JEPL), New Delhi & GeoGlobal Resources (Barbados) Inc. was awarded the contract for exploration of CB-ONN-2002/2 block under Government of India's NELP-IV offer during February 2004, with JEPL as the operator.

The block falls in western India in proven petroliferous Cambay basin, which is producing over 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, in the  State of Gujarat  and within the highly prospective Sanchor-Patan block, surrounded by many oil/gas producing fields like Lanwa, Unawa and West Bechraji. One of the two existing wells drilled earlier within the block had tested oil.

There are 3 phases to the Production Sharing Contract on Mehsana Block. As a part of our Phase -1 exploration program, JEPL and its JV partners are required to carry-out 100 sq. km. of 3D Seismic API and drilling of 7 wells over a period of 30 months.  Various pre-seismic activities are in full swing to commence 3D Seismic API from Sept. 2005.

CY-ONN-2002/1 (Cauvery) - Area: 680 sq. km. (GSPC - 20% PI)
GSPC in association with Jubilant Enpro Private Limited (JEPL), New Delhi & GAIL (India) Limited was awarded the contract for exploration of CY-ONN-2002/1 block under Government of India's NELP-IV offer during February' 2004, with JEPL as the operator.

The block falls in southern India in the State of Tamil Nadu within proven petroliferous Cauvery basin.  Three of the four wells drilled earlier within the block have tested oil & gas. Adjacent to the block, towards the south, are oil producing on-land Bhuvanagiri field of ONGCL and prospective offshore PY-1 field towards the east.

There are 3 phases to the Production Sharing Contract on Cauvery Block. As a part of Phase 1 exploration program, JEPL and its JV partners are required to carry out 300 LKM of 2D Seismic API and drilling of 3 wells over a period of 36 months. Acquisition of 3D seismic is currently under progress.

Exploration Blocks Under NELP-V

CB-ONN-2003/2 (Ankleshwar) - Area : 448 sq. km. (GSPC - 50% PI)
GSPC in association with Jubilant Oil & Gas Exploration Ltd., GAIL Ltd. and GeoGlobal Resources was awarded the contract for exploration of CB-ONN-2003/2 block under the Government of India's NELP-V offer during July 2005, with GSPC as operator.

The CB-ONN-2003/2 block is located on the South of the northern bank of the Narmada river and east-north east of the Ankleshwar oil field in the Narmada tectonic block in the State of Gujarat. In the past, eleven exploratory blocks have been drilled in the block.  The only reported hydrocarbon occurrences are from Andada-1 well, which tested intervals 1159-1161m and 1162-1163m at a reported 10 cu.m. (63 bbls.) of oil per day. Immediately to the South of the block, however, is the Ankleshwar field with estimated ultimate recovery of 71 million tones (approximately 530 milion barrels). This contains oil and/or gas reservoirs ranging from the Cambay shale sandstone through the Hazad and Ardol Members to the Dadhal formation. Three out of the seven sands in the Tarkeshwar formation (Lower Miocene) are also gas bearing. Further to the South, the Sisodra Field has oil & gas in the Ankleshwar formation.

GSPC  consortium has committed aggressive work programme  involving acquisition of approximately 500 sq. km. of 3D seismic data and drilling of 14 exploratory wells to realise the hydrocarbon potential of the block.

AA-ONN-2003/1 (Assam) - Area : 81 sq. km. (GSPC - 20% PI)
GSPC in association with GAIL and Jubilant Enpro was awarded the contract for exploration of AA-ONN-2003/1 block under the Government of India's NELP-V offer during July 2005.

The AA-ONN-2003/1 block is located in the Dhansiri Valley of Upper Assam Shelf covering an area of 81 Sq km The block lies between the Mikir hills to its west and the Naga schuppen belt to its east. The block, falling in a zone bordering the Naga thrust, along with the discovery of four oil fields like Khoraghat, Nambar, Uriamghat and the Borholla in the Dhansiri valley in this zone, can be said to lie in an ‘oil trend’ and therefore, considered as highly prospective

Both the Mikir hills and the Naga schuppen belt, extensively surveyed by ONGC, OIL and the Geological Survey of India (GSI), shows that the major part of the Mikir hills exposes granitic rock of Precambrian age.

The regional Bouguer anomaly map of Upper Assam Shelf shows that the basement in the Dhansiri valley wherein the block is situated, deepens towards northeast. The block is covered by about 241 LKM of 2D seismic surveys and about 34 sq. km. of 3D seismic surveys. Three exploratory wells have been drilled in the block- Telihal Well-1, Kasomarigaon Well-1 and Jamuguri Well-1
